FCCLA, the Family Career and Community Leaders of America club, helps kids in America and overseas. The club puts on an event called Family First twice a year where families come out, play games, and eat.
To join FCCLA, aspiring members must pay a $20 fee and attend meetings once a month. Officers meet once a week. People in FCCLA say it is a very fun club, like a big group of friends or family.
Some people join FCCLA because they want to reach out more and help people. When they go to college, this club looks really good on student’s resumes.
In this club, members get to meet new people. Going out to do something helpful for someone else makes one happy and proud of themselves. FCCLA has been to many places like North Carolina retirement homes and a Ronald McDonald House. Not only does FCCLA do these charitable activities outside of school, but they also help around school and set up can drives. For Valentine’s Day they made cards and are taking them to the Ronald McDonald House and they will spend time with the kids there and to elderly people in retirement homes who aren’t able to have the luxuries other people have.
One of the things that FCCLA members do is an annual fundraiser for the family of an FCCLA member, Emily, who died of cancer.
