Steep Canyon Rangers, a North Carolina bluegrass group centered in Asheville, won the Best Bluegrass Album Grammy for Nobody Knows You. They were nominated last year for their album Rare Bird Alert that featured actor Steve Martin on the banjo.

Graham Sharp plays banjo, Mike Guggino plays mandolin, Charles Humphrey III plays bass, Woody Platt plays guitar, and Nicky Sanders plays the fiddle. The band, including Sharp, who graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill, have played together for more than a decade.

The band members had this to say on their website, “We're so grateful to our fans and friends for their support. It is humbling to represent the community that is bluegrass and inspiring as well....”

The album includes “Nobody Knows You,” “Rescue Me,” and “As I Go.” Steep Canyon Rangers have a history of playing in North Carolina. Before they were famous, the band played for an OHS FFA (Future Farmers of America) fundraiser.
