Senior Awards Day took place May 23 at 9:30 am in the OHS auditorium. The ceremony lasted an hour and a half and approximately 60 seniors won awards. The awards recognized academic excellence, good character, and talent.

Madison Chandler, who was awarded recognition in English, AP Environmental Science (APES), Physics, math, Spanish, LINK Crew, and other science awards, said that she earned her awards because of “hard work and good grades.”

Indy Reid-Shaw received credit for her hard work in art, APES, science, English, LINK, and social studies. She said that she deserves the awards because “I worked really hard through AP US and AP Euro... I helped out with Peace Club a lot as well.”

Nicolas Peckman was given a band, Latin, and math award. Peckman stated that “it was nice to see people get recognized for [their accomplishments at OHS].

Daniel Jorgensen said that Senior Awards Day is important because “you get to learn about what people did.”

Kim Ward, who presented multiple awards, thought that Senior Awards Day “went really smoothly.” She said it was “really special” and she was “glad there was a diverse group of kids... [with] diverse disciplines getting recognized.”
