Molly Burke’s passion for the arts began in the sixth grade and continues on today. As a sophomore at Orange High School, she has already used her creativity to impact the school. Burke is the editor for the Painted Dreams magazine and has been a theatre technician for multiple plays.
Painted Dreams is a magazine that comes out once a year, which showcases art and creative writing from students. “I never knew how much talent there was at Orange before I was recruited as a Painted Dreams staff member,” said Burke. She became an editor of the Painted Dreams her freshman year and still holds the position. As a part of her position she looks through numerous amounts of student submissions which gives her a “deeper awareness of the imagination and creativity that students here [at Orange] have.”
Burke’s creativity has extended into the theatre. The first production she participated in was Ducktails and Bobbysox at C.W. Stanford Middle School in which she played the role of a sports announcer. Now she is a theatre technician and enjoys working behind the scenes. Burke helped in both productions last year, Bang Bang You’re Dead and Taming of the Shrew. She said, “One of the reasons I love theatre is because of how much you get to learn by being a part of just one show. You get the opportunity to experience all of the parts of a production and see how much work and effort is put into every aspect of a show.”
