mosiac-1024x273Over summer 2013, OHS decided to give some TLC to the front lobby and lawn. These changes include the large panther mosaic outside, the new orange roof on the office, new floor mats at the doors, and a new drop down ceiling in the main hallway connecting to the Panther’s Den.

The changes have come at the perfect time, just over 50 years after the school first opened its doors. As it says on the school website, “The Mighty Panthers maintain a long-standing tradition of excellence that is committed to continuous improvement and student success.”

The newest additions were ready during open house for the school’s 1200 students to see, and it made an impression. Freshman Rebecca Woodard said, “I thought the outside looked really pretty, it was very crowded.”

The new editions have certainly picked up the school’s overall look, and tons of students and parents are loving the changes. Kim Sparrow, an OHS parent says, “The school looked great, it was definitely a cool change from last year, especially the outside.”

Teachers are also enthusiastic about the aesthetic additions. Science teacher Nina Daye says, “I really like the whole beautification of the courtyard areas. I especially like the fact they are including rain gardens and new things that are good for the environment, so that it is not just going to be pretty but also functional.”
