Blood Drive Article Pic SGA (Student Government Association) and the American Red Cross hosted the annual blood drive on Thursday, October 24, in the small gym. Justin Webb, advisor of SGA, was the organizer of this event. Teachers and students came out to help donate.

Student volunteers worked at a table in front of the gym to check donors in. The requirements to donate blood are if one is 16 they have to have parent permission but if one is 17 or older than they do not. Then, no matter what age one is, one has to show a picture ID to confirm their age.

Lay-back chairs were set up for donors to give blood. Music was played for the enjoyment of the the people giving blood. Each donor gave one pint unless requesting more. After the blood was taken, there were soda and snacks for the enjoyment of the donors.

The donors were excited to donate to such a good cause. “I wanted to help save lives,” said Brittany Burgess. Skyler Collins, senior, said, “I want to help a worthy cause.” Ashley Bradshaw said she donated because, “My mom was sick and I don't want anyone else to feel as bad as she did.”

The nurses were excited to see many people to come out and donate. At the end of the day 74 pints were taken and there were 50 first-time donors.
