On Tuesday, November 19, the OHS swim teams started off the season with 171-102 in the women’s division and 185-66 in the men’s division. They played against Eastern Alamance High School, winning their first meet.
Reilly Geise, Ben Albaugh, Kristin Russell, Nicole Cassada, and Autumn Crawford had the best times in the 50 meter free; Chad Rose, Hannah Phillips, and Maryann Giordano had the shortest times in the 200 individual medley; Reilly Geise and Blair Gattis had the fastest times in the 100 meter free; and Dylan Twiddy and Hannah Phillips had the best times in the 100 meter fly.
Coach Marcus Alford said, “The meet was very successful on many levels. We dominated the other team, we swam fast times, and the team really supported each other... We have several new swimmers on the team this year, so we are hoping to really get their technique better, and we always have a goal of taking more swimmers to [regionals] than we did the previous year.“
Although no records have been broken yet, the team hopes that they will make it to the top this season.
