While most seniors choose comfort over cuteness when picking from their wardrobe, Kate Dubis strives to dress to impress. Dubis has most classmates’ heads turning in her direction as she shows off a unique style; however, for Dubis, fashion is more about creating an identity and expressing oneself.
People who have gotten the opportunity to see Dubis around campus know how to describe her stellar style. Dubis simply defines it as “girly with an edgy twist.” “I like to wear cute outfits, but sometimes I feel like adding excitement to a basic dress or skirt,” she stated. Through the use of bold patterns and accessories, Dubis is able to develop this style.
Even fashion designers have their muse for inspiration, and Dubis is no different. When asked who inspires such an eclectic and trend-starting wardrobe, Dubis immediately responded, “I love to dress like Blair Waldorf and sometimes Serena Van Der Woodsen [both from the television show Gossip Girl]. I’m also influenced by Emma Stone and Julianne Hough’s style. They both know how to rock either a day or night outfit.”
Dubis aspires to stand out not only with her clothes, but also through the identity her clothes allow her. Through trying on countless combinations of tops, graphic tees, skirts, pants, and more, Dubis sets the mood for her day. Of course, even fashionistas have their lazy days. For Dubis, her go-to outfit is “dark wash skinny jeans, a cute loose tee, and a headband.” Her bum-day outfit sure beats the usual Nike shorts and a T-shirt.
Additionally, she is always on the hunt for items to add to her closet. When asked about her favorite store, Dubis replied, “I can't just choose one! If I had to pick, I'd probably go with Nordstrom Rack because they have tons of clothes, great shoes, and it's not too pricey.” Her other treasured stores include Express, Forever 21, and American Eagle.
Dubis has proven herself to be a fashion leader at Orange High School. With such a strong passion for fashion, she is sure to inspire some students’ outfits as she rocks her looks on campus.
