DSCN6707Maddie Norwood is the editor-in-chief of the Den Echoes, but her skills as a writer extend even beyond journalism. Norwood, a senior this year, has a fondness for screenwriting, and wants to pursue writing for television one day. "I want to be the next Moffat," says Norwood, referring to recent Emmy winner Steven Moffat, showrunner and frequent writer for the popular British programs Doctor Who and Sherlock. Norwood’s skills at journalism are obvious from her long career with the Den Echoes. Including this year, she will have seven credits in the journalism class here at Orange, and her hard work and efforts have certainly paid off. As editor, Norwood is prepared to have an amazing year, as well as produce a truly one-of-a-kind paper.

Apart from writing, Norwood is interested in political science, and hopes to study it and journalism in England. Studying abroad has always been a dream of hers, and she hopes to achieve this goal at Oxford University. Norwood is passionate about government and politics and hopes to be able to effect social change both in the stories she writes and the news she reports. An education at Oxford, she believes, will assist her in achieving these goals.

Norwood is also involved in several clubs--Student Government Association, Key Club, Latin Club, and Beta Club. Her dedicated involvement and participation in school activities, as well as her commitment to ensuring that this year will be the best one yet for the Den Echoes, both promise that our new editor is more than up to the task.
