For some teens, one of the most stressful aspects of teenage life is decision making. Red cardigan or blue dress? Pizza or salad? UNC Chapel Hill or NC State? For cello player Mia Hall, she has a life-or-death decision to make when she falls in a coma. Literally, should she live or should she die?
The 2014 movie If I Stay stars Chloƫ Grace Moretz as Mia. She had a bright future ahead of her before the accident that caused her coma. The only issue she was dealing with was about her future. She had to choose between pursuing her lifelong dream of becoming a musician at Juilliard or spending time with the love of her life.
The car accident, which her parents and brother are also in, ruins everything. It is up to her to decide whether she lives or dies. While in the coma, she has flashbacks to her life with her sweet boyfriend Adam (Jamie Blackley) and her family members.
Mia’s life before the accident consisted of spending weekends with Adam and his band. Her weeks were filled with studying and cello rehearsals. Mia had loved the cello ever since she laid eyes on it in second grade. Mia’s parents were fellow rockers just like Adam; her father had created a band and that was his entire life until her brother was born.
What will happen? Will the accident change Mia’s life and college choice? Watch the movie to find out.
