Warm Bodies has proven to be a movie with some definite spunk. Sympathetically portraying a zombie, let alone a zombie falling in love, isn’t exactly an easy thing to pull off, especially since movies over the decades have built up a completely nasty view on the normal zombie figure.

Like most of the movies created by Summit Entertainment, the movie gave a wonderfully fast-paced and interesting opening to the movie. It showed “R”, the main zombie/lover boy of the movie, played by Nicholas Hoult, walking through an airport recalling the past.  We also meet his love interest, Julie, played by Teresa Palmer, when the movie shows her, her former boyfriend, and their gaggle of friends fighting for their lives against a zombie attack. R ends up eating her boyfriend’s brain and he sees all of the thoughts that the boyfriend had about Julie. This causes R to become stricken with Julie, and they end up falling for each other when he saves her from the attack.

The movie becomes a beautiful and tragic love story as the two fight to be together. There are many setbacks for the two lovebirds to overcome, like Julie’s controlling father, her crazy friends, and the fact that R begins to have a heartbeat again. This makes him different from the other zombies.

Overall, this was a good movie. It had great actors and it is the type of movie that will be sure to take you by surprise and make you believe in happy endings.
