OHS would like to congratulate the following students who earned their American Welding Society Certification in vertical and overhead welding: John Harris, Alberto Lopez, CJ Thorpe, Jessica Hackler, Shane Kelly, Seth Watkins, Denzil Whitted, Blake Hall, Tristian Foster, Jonathan Poteat, and Devon Howell. They got the certification at different times depending on when they finished a certain welding technique.
Hackler responded by saying, “Yes, I always enjoyed my welding classes, but I really enjoyed having Mr. Wagoner as my teacher this year. I enjoyed working on my vertical certification. It was fun because I knew it had to be perfect and now I’m a certified welder. I am hopefully going to school at Advanced Technology Institute in Virginia Beach. I’ll go through and get the rest of my certifications along with a degree in business. Once I graduate from there hopefully I’ll be able to find a job in the trade.”
Harris responded by saying, “Yeah, I enjoyed it all three years. My favorite thing was being able to get certified and build grills. I have had thoughts but I believe I’m going to stick with the automotive industry. I finished my vertical and passed it my junior year. I finished my overhead this year and passed it. I am now working in my pipe certification.”
Thorpe responded by saying, “Yes, I did enjoy my welding class. My favorite thing to do was work on different projects Mr.Wagoner assigned to us. Yes, I am actually enlisted in the army to be a welder.”
Lopez responded by saying, “Yes, I did. I liked to weld everything but I’d have to say that pipe is my favorite because of the challenge that came with it. Yes, I am considering getting a job that involves welding. I’ll hopefully get accepted to ATI and graduate from there and go straight to work after.”
