During the induction, 2012 Orange High graduate Samantha Herrera came back to speak to the new inductees, give them congratulations, and share some advice for them to live by.
“Never settle for just getting by, always push yourself and strive to be the best,” said Herrera to the new members.
To start off the induction, the principals from each high school spoke to the students. Herrera spoke afterwards and led the NAS senior spotlight. Then, one by one, school by school, the advisers read out the names of the spring 2013 inductees who then came up to accept their awards from the principal of their school.
The entire auditorium stood up and said the NAS Pledge, and Litany to close the induction ceremony and was then led into the reception that was held in the OHS library. Food and drinks were served and prepared by Mrs. Braxton’s first period Foods class. They made a variety of snacks and a tasty punch.
Mrs. Braxton said everything that was served was made here at Orange, except the cake. The reception was a time for all new inductees to have time to talk to former inductees, and see what they have to look forward to this year as new members.
