Rebecca Woodard recently talked on Mix 101.5, a local North Carolina radio station, about Duke Hospital’s 20th anniversary and how the hospital has changed her life.

Woodard commented that the hospital was having a radiothon to raise money for the hospital and children in need. The hospital normally makes over a million dollars during the radiothon.

Money earned during the event goes to certain kid’s camps and other programs that help sick children. The kid’s camps also include a special program called Kaleidoscope. Kaleidoscope is a sleep-away camp for young kids and their families.

At Kaleidoscope, doctors and nurses are there to protect the children’s safety as they have a little fun and freedom from their illnesses. Most of the kids that are allowed into the camp have cancer, or extreme allergies, like Woodard has.

Woodard is allergic to wheat, dairy, and red meat.

Woodard commented,“I have been going there for 8 years and I have made friendships that last a lifetime and it really helps me have a positive outlook on life.”
